I think I am going to to stick with my mezzotint series a tad longer and start doing fun game focused prints. Here is one to remind summoners the importance of buying wards in League of Legends.
Blackbird commissioned me to produce the marquee poster for their upcoming show of David Mamet’s Oleanna. Inspired by poster designs of the 1960s, specifically Saul Bass, the central theme of the show is the power struggle and miscommunication between men and women. The apple core speaks to the educational setting that the play takes place within, the yelling male and female faces show the power struggle, and the caption spells it out -The Original Power Play.
This year’s theme was 1964 kitschy world’s fair. This was also the first All Hands for our new CIO, Marty Paslick. We transformed the Belmont arena into a trade show floor with bistro seating, tall bannered booths, a chalk board walk of history, a large flagged grand entrance, 1964 era training video, stylized stage design, and even featured local coffee brewers tastes of Nashville. The video from the event can be seen here on YouTube.
Creative director and vendor consultant for stage production, internal designers, sign vendor, and stage layout designer
Co-produced the event for 1500+ field and corporate employees through presentations, collateral, webcast, and video.
For our company’s All Hands meeting we are doing retro 1960’s world’s fair theme. Part of the design projects for the venue are 6 large chalkboard WALLS of PROGRESS celebrating the history of technology. These will stand 8 feet tall and are being illustrated in actual chalk. This is the one of the series I did.
Abba’s Way expanded their father and child weekeneds from a son only to a daughter event as well named Father’s Delight. The illustration here is heavily inspired by the Sleeping Beauty Disney movie promotional and background artwork. I had a blast doing something so based in pure imagination and watercolor style tones.
The ever busy Dead Workers Party has another podcast underway. It is called “Core Elements” and will focus on gaming as a whole ( read not only video games).
Wes Wilson over there asked for a poster to be drawn up with a turn of the century tinkering feel. I got to do this in the Art Nouveau style, which was great fun to investigate. Art Nouveau has alot to offer though it seems to be passed up buy the more familiar Art Deco and propaganda style posters of the early century. Also for part of this was a logo .
Have a gander at the sketch, the finished poster (which will be available in print soon), the logo, and a close up for vanity sake 🙂
Here is the workpiece I had to swear to secrecy until Control Point episode 100 could be official released. Listen to it and enjoy the show and artwork together!
